Erietta decided to share hers\u2014in her own words, exactly as she experienced it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What you read below is her story, as she wrote it herself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My name is Erietta and I am 40 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My gynecological history includes a very early miscarriage (6\u20137 weeks) in March 2023, following which no D&C or other invasive procedure was performed, after my treating physician at the time assured me that everything was fine, that nature knows best, and that I would get pregnant again soon. Of course, when you hold a positive pregnancy test in your hands, you never think that something might go wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I visited Dr. Douliotis in April 2025, following my own personal search and research, without a referral from anyone, as I believe that choosing a doctor is an extremely personal matter and a completely subjective issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Initially, when I made my appointment, I simply wanted to have my annual gynecological checkup with him. The traumatic experience of the miscarriage had been linked to certain people and situations, and I was reluctant to continue seeing my previous doctor\u2014something that happens to many women after such an event. What I wanted was a compassionate approach, a thorough examination grounded in scientific expertise, following this event. To someone else, a miscarriage might seem minor compared to other, more difficult situations, but every woman experiences it differently, and it remains a huge issue in her own little world, in her psychology, and for her family as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our first date, which I still remember, took place amid casual conversation, a pleasant vibe, and a cheerful atmosphere. Without meaning to, I casually recounted exactly what had happened up to that point, emphasizing my desire to have a child with my husband. During the exam, the doctor found a shadow, showed it to me, and based on that first ultrasound, told me what he thought it might be. After the gynecological exam, he suggested the steps he advised me to take next, answering every question I had.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As I left, even though I should have been anxious or at least worried, I knew what I needed to do, and perhaps for the first time, I felt relieved\u2014we had found something; there was something that was clearly preventing me from getting pregnant two years after the miscarriage. Our appointment was followed by a detailed email outlining the recommendations (hydrosonography or hysteroscopy plus microbiome analysis) we had discussed together. After discussing it with my husband, we decided on the hysteroscopy, which allows for an invasive procedure to remove any findings the doctor might discover. Everything was done immediately, quickly, and most importantly without wasting precious time\u2014which is extremely important for a woman in her 40s, because we all feel that time is running out in the process of having a child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In May 2025, I had my hysteroscopy at MITERA with Dr. Douliotis\u2014just one month after our first appointment. Polyps were found and removed (the shadow the doctor had spotted on the first ultrasound during our very first appointment at his office). As we all know, a polyp\u2014let alone multiple ones\u2014can interfere with fertilization, though their location certainly plays a role. I believe they played a role in our case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Afterward, I faithfully and diligently followed the doctor\u2019s instructions for recovery and rehabilitation. I took my antibiotics and started taking my vitamins from the pharmacy\u2014no hard-to-find or exorbitantly expensive preparations, as many might expect in such cases! I should note here that I didn\u2019t suffer, I didn\u2019t feel any pain, and I didn\u2019t have any particular difficulty with my daily activities during my recovery, which proceeded exactly as the doctor had described and explained to me beforehand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The doctor\u2019s instructions were always extremely clear, detailed, and thorough. He always followed up with an email summarizing what we had previously discussed during our appointment. At every step, in addition to verbal updates and communication with the doctor, I also received guidance from his midwives. Both Christina and Elena are cheerful, sweet, and ready to assist you, make you feel comfortable, and help you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the same time, regarding my husband\u2019s case, Dr. Douliotis recommended further investigation through certain tests (sperm fragmentation index (DFI)) in combination with some over-the-counter vitamins. This was preceded by a healthy diet throughout the previous period as well as quitting smoking. I mention all of this because, individually, these factors may seem insignificant\u2014but taken together, I believe they have real results, or at least they worked for us and in our case!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When the doctor gave us the green light to try, things just fell into place on their own\u2014quickly, smoothly, and, as my husband says, almost effortlessly on the very first try! The positive pregnancy test came in July 2025 (07\/13\/25), during my first cycle, on our first try\u2014as unbelievable as that sounds!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019ll never forget that day, or the excitement with which we called our doctor. His joy was evident, and I\u2019ll never forget his response: \u201cCongratulations, well done, you guys! When you address the problem and its cause, the solution comes quickly!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My husband will always say he\u2019s the man with the magic touch! I\u2019m now 33 weeks pregnant and he continues to monitor me, and of course I\u2019ll be giving birth to my daughter with him by my side!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Douliotis is warm, kind, and approachable\u2014a person first and a doctor second. Most importantly, you never leave the office with unanswered questions, and that matters, because in the year 2026, I know women who are too embarrassed to ask their gynecologist even the most basic questions! He is positive, optimistic, and supportive, taking into account how important a woman\u2019s mental state is throughout this entire process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What I would recommend to all women, whether they want to have a child or not, is to look at the big picture, always seek a second and third opinion, and never rest on their laurels. Today, a simple annual gynecological checkup isn\u2019t enough. It\u2019s very important\u2014we shouldn\u2019t neglect it\u2014but it\u2019s no longer enough!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our little doctor will always be in our hearts, as one of our most beloved people, because he will bring our miracle into the world, and that makes him especially precious. I feel immense gratitude and feel so lucky to have chosen him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
